Private English tuition

Learn the language, not just the rules.

Conversational, task-based English lessons for adults who want real fluency — not textbook rehearsals. Based in Kuala Lumpur, online worldwide.

How I teach

Conversational, not textbook

No coursebooks, no fill-in-the-blanks, no grammar drills. Every lesson is built around what /you/ actually need to say — work meetings, travel conversations, personal expression. We work with authentic material: articles, clips, your own writing, the things you already engage with.

Rigour enables joy

Good teaching isn't about making things easy — it's about making hard things feel worth the effort. I push because I know you can go further, and because genuine confidence only comes from real progress, not empty praise.

Your internal syllabus

You don't need someone else's curriculum. You already have a sense of what you want to say and who you want to be in English. My job is to help you find the language for it — not to decide for you what "level" you're on.

Consent-driven learning

Real learning needs psychological safety. You won't be put on the spot, tested without warning, or made to perform. We work at a pace that respects where you are — and if that means a slow week, that's fine too.

What learners say

Everyone comes with different reasons. Here's what the work looks like in practice.

I'd studied English for years in school, but I could never actually speak. After a few months, I was having real conversations with my colleagues — not perfect ones, but real ones.
What surprised me was that it didn't feel like a class. We'd talk about things I actually cared about. I'd read articles before the lesson and couldn't wait to discuss them.
I was nervous about making mistakes. But my teacher never made me feel stupid — just pushed enough that I could see myself improving week by week.

Pricing

Lessons are RM 100 per hour, paid per session — no long-term commitment required. A typical lesson is one hour; longer sessions can be arranged. If you'd like to prepay for several lessons at once, ask — that's available as an option, never a requirement.

RM 100

per hour

RM 100 / hour — the straight-up rate for one-on-one English tuition. It covers my time, preparation, feedback, and the tools that make the work possible.

Common questions

Quick answers to things people often ask.

How is this different from a language school or typical tutor?

No fixed syllabus, no textbooks, no grammar drills. Every lesson is built around what you actually need to say — work, travel, everyday conversation. It's one-on-one, so we move at your pace, not a class schedule's.

What level do I need to be?

Any level from beginner to advanced. The approach adapts to where you are. Absolute beginners get structured foundational work; advanced learners get fine-tuning on nuance, register, and expression. The only requirement is that you want to communicate, not just memorise rules.

How do lessons work? Zoom? Materials?

60 minutes over Zoom. Before each lesson I'll share something to read or watch — an article, a clip, something you've written. We spend the lesson discussing it, working through questions, and building language around it. Afterward you get written notes on what came up.

How often do we meet? Can I change frequency?

Weekly is the most common rhythm, but we can do twice a week, fortnightly, or something in between. You choose the pace. If things change, we adjust — no penalties, no rigid contracts.

Do I have to commit to a long package?

No. You pay per lesson — no minimum commitment. If you'd like to prepay for several lessons at once, that's available as an option. But the default is: book one lesson at a time, pay as you go.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Let me know at least 24 hours before your lesson — email, WhatsApp, or WeChat. What matters is that your message reaches me before the 24-hour cutoff. I may not reply right away, but the timestamp of your notice is what counts. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, are billed as normal.

What if I can't afford the full rate?

Get in touch and tell me what works for you. I don't need documentation or justification. If I'm full, I'll say so — and if I can't help, I'll point you where I can.

How many learners do you teach at once?

I aim to work with about 10 learners per week — enough to keep things sustainable, few enough that each person gets proper attention. If I'm at capacity, I'll tell you honestly.

What are your policies?

You can find my Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Refund & Cancellation Policy linked in the footer of every page.

Want to give it a try?

Your first lesson is complimentary — a real conversation, no commitment, no sales pitch. We'll talk about what you want to achieve and see if the approach fits.
